Hello Reader , Happy March!! This month, I wanted to kick off Women's History Month by highlighting women's travel and resources! Last fall, I led an all-women’s trek in Nepal with World Expeditions—and it reminded me just how powerful it is when women step outside their routines and into the unknown together. I watched women arrive, unsure of themselves, and leave standing at mountain viewpoints with a new sense of confidence and possibility. These trips aren’t just about where you go—they’re about discovering what you’re capable of. If Nepal—or any adventure—has been quietly sitting on your “someday” list, maybe it’s time to stop waiting. Read my full story and explore why traveling with other women might be the most powerful trip you ever take. AND...I'm working on putting together an Ottsworld Tour to the Annapurna Region of Nepal for April 2027...so stay tuned! New Capitol to Capitol Episode!Last month, I released a new Capitol to Capitol Episode 4! It chronicles my time biking from Phoenix, AZ to Santa Fe, NM with my logistics queen, Vicki! It was the first time that I had to ride on the interstate and roads with no shoulders. This is the episode where I faced my fears of becoming a road cyclist. If you haven't watched the episode yet, I really hope you take a few minutes to see it. And if you are new to the entire Capitol to Capitol Docu-series - you can see it from the beginning here. I'm actually going to go out on a limb and submit the first episode to the Bicycle Film Festival this year. It's a long shot - but I feel like Michaela has done such an incredible job producing this docu-series that I would love to get her some recognition for it! 20 Years of Blogging!2026 celebrates my 20th year of blogging on Ottsworld.com, I wanted to share a few things for people who haven't been with me from the beginning. A good place to start is here - where it describes my journey from leaving my corporate career to take a career break and travel around the world. Another interesting fact is that back in 2009 I started another travel company called Meet Plan Go with my friend Michaela (same Michaela from above!) and her husband. It included a blog, community, in-person events, online courses, and, at one point, a "Plan Your Career Break Trip in 30 Days" free program. We focused on inspiring and teaching North Americans how to take a career break, put their 'adult life' on hold, choose travel that is purposeful, and market those experiences back into their job search when they return. Our events were covered by The New York Times, Huffington Post, and National Geographic. The Meet, Plan, Go site was named "One of the Best Travel Websites Ever" by The Guardian. Our goal was to have a Career Break on every resume and turn travel into a career strategy, rather than just a vacation. Sadly, we never really reached that point - I believe that we were just a little ahead of our time when we started this business idea. It's amazing to see how the world has evolved since we began - remote working, digital nomads, and career breaks becoming much more common! Did you ever attend a Meet Plan Go Event? Have you ever taken a career break? Just hit reply and let me know about it! And if you ever want to talk to me about planning a career break for yourself - just schedule a time with me to chat! Where NextNowhere! I've had a very odd winter so far, with no travel. And honestly, I'm loving it. Even though I love travel and prefer to be exploring most of the time, everyone needs a break to reset. I have been spending my time fostering 3 adorable kittens, driving all over Denver, furnishing my new condo via Facebook Marketplace, training for my next Capitol Route, launching new tours, catching up on writing, and just taking the time to be lazy for a little bit. I know for most people travel is their 'reset' button - but for me - standing still is my reset. Happy Travels! Seen & HeardI was recently a guest on the podcast Taking a Breath - from the National Blood Clot Alliance, telling my story of how I survived a blood clot and pulmonary embolism contracted from flying. Take a listen and learn about the risks, signs, and why women are more at risk of contracting clots.
Women's Travel ResourcesI've been writing about women's travel for 20 years; however, there are a lot of other great resources and communities out there! Here are a few of my favorites: Communities/Websites JourneyWoman.com - The world's first travel solo travel resource for women over 50. This fall, I’m opening up something I usually do solo — my Capitol-to-Capitol Quest. Join me cycling from Augusta, Maine, to Montpelier, Vermont, during peak leaf-peeping season, when New England explodes in golds, reds, and fiery oranges.
Quiet backroads, car-free trails, charming small towns, and a front-row seat to one of the most beautiful times of year in the U.S. Every detail is handled, local guides have our backs, and you get to be part of an epic story that connects generations, places, and people.

I have no idea why I still have room on this trip because it's one of the best trips I've ever taken in my 20 years of travel around the world! Ride an e-bike across the Patagonian steppe and into the shadows of the Paine Massif, stay in remote ranches, meet seasoned baqueanos, spot guanacos and wild horses, and end every day closer to one of Earth’s most iconic parks. It’s more than a vacation—it’s a transformational adventure that challenges, inspires, and delivers a story you’ll remember forever.

Hello Reader , We are one month into 2026 and I'm finally getting around to putting together a little list of where to go in 2026. I was inspired by the New York Times list of 52 places that came out recently. If you haven't seen their list - I do recommend checking it out, they always do a great job. I did notice that one of my favorite and unknown places made their list this year (it's been in my Ebook, Where to Go and When, for years!). Check out #9 - Saba Island in the Caribbean! I...
Hello Reader , What if “someday” didn’t live in that fuzzy future where dreams go to nap… what if someday was 2026? We all have those trips (or goals) we say we’ll do “when things slow down,” “when I have more time,” or “one of these days.” Trust me, I’ve used those excuses too. But here’s what I’ve learned after almost two decades of chasing adventures around the world: Life doesn’t magically make space for adventure — we have to decide it’s worth prioritizing. So what if this was the year...
