From Canadian Train Adventures to Irish Dreams—Enter Before It’s Too Late!

Hello Reader,

Hello from Canada! Right now I'm at a stop in Jasper National Park doing a little work as my parents rest. We left Halifax and the Atlantic Ocean a week ago headed towards Vancouver and the Pacific Ocean! We've been on 3 different trains/routes and have one left - the Rocky Mountaineer - taking us from Lake Louise to Vancouver. We've slowly been moving up the 'luxe ladder' on each train and have saved the best for last.

Traveling with my 89-year-old parents has been going pretty smoothly, and I've certainly learned a lot about the pace of travel when you are older. There are things I would've done differently...but overall - we are doing well. I'll share all of the things I learned after the trip! But the main thing is that we are having fun seeing Canada, and the magic of travel is taking hold. I love watching them interact with other travelers, and experience new things.

In the meantime feel free to follow along on my stories on my social media channels - Instagram or Facebook to see how the luxury part of the trip goes!

Gear Corner

For the current trip I'm on with my parents, we all managed to use our carry-on suitcases, which has made our travels so much easier. I'm testing a few new items on this trip, and of course I brought my new VIM & VIGR travel compression socks for me and my mom!

Get your pair here and use code OTTSWORLD for 15% off your order!

I'm also testing out a new Merino-only brand called IBEX. I love the benefits of traveling in merino clothing - mainly because it doesn't need to be washed as often, thanks to the odor-resistant qualities of merino. I love this IBEX tank so far. It's really soft and comfortable, and I've worn it multiple times, and it still doesn't smell! This is definitely a great new travel top, perfect for hiking and adventure too!

I've packed my La Sportiva Jackal II trail running shoes which are perfect for walking around towns AND also sturdy enough for light hiking. Trail running shoes are a great item to pack in lieu of bulky hiking boots if you trip only includes a day or two of hiking.

And finally - my favorite carry-on 4 wheel suitcase is my Thule Aion - partnered with Thule packing cubes (the best packing cubes IMO)

Hello Reader, Returning to Nepal after 16 years was both humbling and powerful. In my early travel years, I rarely revisited places—there was always somewhere new calling. But now, after nearly two decades on the road, going back feels essential. It’s not just about seeing how a country has changed—it’s about noticing how I’ve changed. When I landed in Kathmandu, I felt that old flicker of fear I hadn’t known in years. The chaos, the noise, the pollution—it all felt overwhelming at first. But...

Hello Reader, I'm coming to you from the middle of a 30+ hour travel day. I'm in a Dubai lounge right now and I have no idea what time it is or if it is day or night...I'm a disoriented traveler right now. So hopefully this newsletter won't be complete jibberish! I'm on my way to Nepal to host the World Expeditions 50th Anniversary Women's hiking trip in the Everest Region! It's been 16 years since I've been in Nepal and I'm beyond excited to return there and experience a different part of...

Hello Reader, I'm home! And it's lovely. This is the first time I'm home for more than two weeks since January. I used to love to be gone all the time, but my attitude towards that has changed in the past few years. In fact - I'm trying to travel less each year. I know that sounds weird - but remember - travel for me is work - really fun work - but it's still work. When you travel as much as I do it's hard to maintain friendships and connections back home - so I always find this time at home...
