Hello Reader, I hope you all had a great July 4th! I just finished another Capitol Ride - Salt Lake City, UT to Boise, ID! I rode 425 miles (against the wind for the last two days)! And this time I had two Logistics Queens - Diana and Jen. They took incredible care of me while I made it through the desert, the interstate, gravel roads, and super hot days! Thank God for their Super Soaker and good aim to keep me cool! I've now finished my 10th Capitol ride (about 3,500 miles in total!!) I spent 15 years traveling around the world and now I'm taking the time to really see and experience my own country. I feel that it has taught me a great deal about the United States. Mostly - it has reminded me that proximity brings understanding. So just by biking through the various states, towns, cities, and landscapes - I learn and become more tolerant. These rides help me see the multiple perspectives of our very diverse America. Travel, in all forms, is so vital to our understanding of the world. Do you agree? Check out some of the highlights of the ride on my Instagram Highlight! If you aren't familiar with my Capitol to Capitol Quest, take a few minutes to watch my YouTube Videos about its origin—it may surprise you! Where Next - Family Travel through CanadaIf you've followed me for a while, you know that I love traveling with my parents and family. Since I'm not married and have no children - my relationship with my family is of great importance to me. I connect with them through travel. However, since the COVID pandemic, we haven't done much traveling together...until now! This month, I'll be traveling with my parents on a train journey across Canada! The three of us are starting in Halifax Nova Scotia (hello lobster!), and going all the way to Vancouver - an epic train journey. We'll be stopping in Quebec City, Toronto, Jasper, and Lake Louise. Along the way, we'll be celebrating my mom and dad's 89th birthdays! This isn't a work trip for me...it's a pleasure trip (I get very few of these!). But I still plan to put up some updates on social along the way. Please follow along on my social channels as we make our way across Canada on this epic rail trip! Hope to see you at the Webinar! Hello Reader, Years ago, I took a long-haul flight that changed my life—because I ended up in the ER with a blood clot and pulmonary embolism. I was lucky...really lucky that I survived. That experience made me start taking compression socks seriously, especially when I travel. Since then, VIM & VIGR compression socks have been a non-negotiable part of my carry-on. Read about my story of contracting blood clots while flying and how they were discovered When I went to VIM & VIGR and asked to...
Hello Reader, I know the headlines right now make you want to burrow under the covers and stay there. The world feels heavy, unpredictable, and, frankly, exhausting. But after clocking in a lot of international travel already this year, I’m here to tell you something hopeful: don’t give up on travel right now. In fact, lean into it. To my surprise (and maybe yours), the more I travel, the more I see people opening their arms wider, not closing them. I’ve been welcomed in ways that remind...
Hello Reader, Much like my dad, I like big projects. They consume me and keep me focused on living in the present, rather than just repeating the same old routine day after day. Travel projects have a long-term, purposeful feel, like a bigger mission beyond just “go on a trip.” They make me look at my travels differently than simply roaming around to sights, I travel deeper, slower, and more introspectively when on a travel project. My latest travel project is taking over my dad's old Capitol...
