Hello Reader, I'm coming to you from the middle of a 30+ hour travel day. I'm in a Dubai lounge right now and I have no idea what time it is or if it is day or night...I'm a disoriented traveler right now. So hopefully this newsletter won't be complete jibberish! I'm on my way to Nepal to host the World Expeditions 50th Anniversary Women's hiking trip in the Everest Region! It's been 16 years since I've been in Nepal and I'm beyond excited to return there and experience a different part of the country. If you didn't know - back in 2009 I hiked the Annapurna Circuit with my father. Want to follow along on this epic adventure - then make sure you follow along on my social media stories and posts! Fall Travel - Go where others don't...It's that time...a crispness is in the air, football has started, and it's time to start thinking about where you should go to see fall colors. Viewing fall foliage doesn’t just have to be in October – fall leaves start to change color as early as August in some parts of America (hello Alaska!) - and it can go as late as November (Kon'nichiwa Japan!). If you want to see how you can make fall last as long as possible - then check out my article about Unique Places and Ways to View Fall in these Locations. Fall Colors in the USHere's an interactive fall folliage map if you'd like to get a general idea of the color timeframes in the US. However I find the best way to determine when colors are peaking real time is to use social media.

Konnichiwa Reader, I’ve officially settled into life in Japan for a while—leading tours, scouting new adventures, and basically eating and 'cocktailing' my way through the country (all in the name of research, of course). My Michinoku Coastal Trail hiking tour just wrapped up, and it was everything I love about travel rolled into one trip: an amazing group, bluebird skies, jaw-dropping coastal views, and endless local food, cocktails, and culture. Next up? My Cat Tour of Japan! (Yes, that’s...
Hello Reader, Returning to Nepal after 16 years was both humbling and powerful. In my early travel years, I rarely revisited places—there was always somewhere new calling. But now, after nearly two decades on the road, going back feels essential. It’s not just about seeing how a country has changed—it’s about noticing how I’ve changed. When I landed in Kathmandu, I felt that old flicker of fear I hadn’t known in years. The chaos, the noise, the pollution—it all felt overwhelming at first. But...
Hello Reader, I'm home! And it's lovely. This is the first time I'm home for more than two weeks since January. I used to love to be gone all the time, but my attitude towards that has changed in the past few years. In fact - I'm trying to travel less each year. I know that sounds weird - but remember - travel for me is work - really fun work - but it's still work. When you travel as much as I do it's hard to maintain friendships and connections back home - so I always find this time at home...
